Officiating The INUA YOUTH Program in Kahama

The INUA YOUTH Program, a flagship initiative by The Fungua Trust, marked a significant milestone on July 27, 2024, as Hon. Mboni Mhita, Kahama District Commissioner, officiated the program at the Kahama Municipal Hall. This endeavor, made possible through the generous support of NEVP-Barrick Gold Corporation, Kahama, aimed to empower youth and promote menstrual health and hygiene among secondary school students.

Gratitude echoed throughout the ceremony as Ms. Easter Anna Lema, the Headmistress of Malunga Secondary School, Ms. Suzana Saoke, the Headmistress of Nyasubi Secondary School, and Mrs. Joyce Nkwabi, the Headmistress of Kishimba Secondary School, accepted reusable sanitary pads on behalf of their respective schools. This distribution, totaling 1250 pads, benefited students across three secondary schools, namely Nyasubi, Kishimba, and Malunga, fostering a supportive environment for menstrual hygiene management.

The guest of honor, Hon. Santiel Kirumba, Member of Parliament for Special Seats in the Shinyanga region, expressed gratitude to Hon. Dr. Shogo Mlozi-Sedoyeka, CEO & Founder of The Fungua Trust, for spearheading initiatives that uplift Tanzanian youth. A poignant moment captured the unity and camaraderie among the headmistresses as they posed for a group photo, symbolizing their collective commitment to advancing the welfare of their students.

The event also witnessed the participation of department and unit heads from the Kahama Municipal Council, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards youth empowerment and community development. Mr. Ernest Mwamwaja, representing The Fungua Trust, elaborated on the program’s implementation, emphasizing its significance in preparing students for active engagement in the East African Community Integration Process.
